Hello dearest sponsor! God bless you. I send you greetings and a big hug hoping that you and your family are in good health. I am very happy because we are enjoying good health. My father abandoned us many years ago. He does not support us nor visit us. My mother is the one who is struggling to support us. She works here in our village as a farmer. She also washes clothes for other people and carries firewood for other people and they pay her. She uses what she earns to support our family. We are two brothers. My brother, Jose, works with the neighbors carrying firewood and he helps my mother with what he earns. Sometimes he has work and sometimes he does not. This year, I am enrolled in school and I really like it a lot because I want to learn to read and write. I also like to color pictures. I walk only five minutes to get to school. A time that I really like with my family is Christmas. We almost never make anything special at home because we do not have the money, but one of my uncles has invited us to his house and we celebrated with them. We had tamales and ponche (typical food and hot fruit drink).
My desire when I grow up is to go to the United States to work and make a little money so that I can help my family. We are a very poor family. The house that we live in is very small and is made of cornstalks with a tin roof and dirt floor. We do not have electricity. We use lanterns for lighting. Neither do we have water. We carry our water from a spring. I help to carry the firewood and water and I do my school work. In my free time, I like to play ball. We go to an Assembly of God church and I like to sing at the church. God bless you. Thank you for all the support that you are providing through the feeding program. I have many benefits such as lunch, medicine and Christmas gifts. I am sure that God will repay you for everything. Take care of yourself. See you soon.
Blessings and much love,
Elias Armando Rodriguez Gomez
