Cuatro Caminos
Guatemala
Child
Cuatro Caminos "four roads", where your child lives, is an area located high on the side of a mountain in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this area is very difficult and very isolated from the outside world. It is a two hour walk to the nearest market town of Zacualpa. Cuatro Caminos is a farming area where corn and black beans, the staple elements in their diet, are the major crops. The Quiche Mayans who inhabit this area trace their ancestral roots to the ancient Mayan civilization. They normally speak a Mayan dialect called Quiché - however, Spanish is becoming more common. Very little money ever changes hands in this area as they live on a barter system.
Hello, my name is Karina Fernanda Ruiz Garcia, and I want to introduce myself. I was born on March 11, 2020, so I am 4 years old. I am in good health, and I enjoy playing with my dolls. I do not attend school yet due to my age. I love pink, and my favorite animal is the kitty. I really enjoy eating fried chicken. I have seven brothers and four sisters, and three of them are registered at the feeding program too. I live with my parents, and their names are Manuel Ruiz Morente and Paula Garcia Toj; they are in good health. My father works as a farmer and day laborer while my mother raises hens and pigs for selling since the money that my father earns is not enough to cover our basic needs.
My family and I attend Prince of Peace Church, and I would like to ask for your prayers for us and our daily needs; we are in need of groceries and corn. We live in our own house. It has two rooms and one kitchen, and it is made of adobe with a tin sheet roof and concrete/dirt floor. We use a solar panel to have light at nights, and we use a hose to bring water from a steam to our home. We have domestic animals at home. I walk for 30 minutes to arrive at the feeding program, and I am happy to be part of it. My mother helped me to give my information to the Evangelism team. I say goodbye to you for now.
Many blessings
Karina Fernanda Ruiz Garcia
