Chixocol
Guatemala
Child
Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.
Hello! My name is Josue Fernando Suar Garcia. I was born on August 1st, 2014, in Zacualpa, Quiche, Guatemala. I am 10 years old and I am a healthy boy. I attend the 3rd grade at school. My hobby is to play football. My favorite color is blue and my favorite animal is the dog. I love eating fried eggs with ketchup. I have one sister and no brothers. I am very happy to be registered in the Chixocol feeding program; I get there by walking in 20 minutes; I attend with my sister.
My father´s name is Edgar Suar Us. He has lived with us for about eight years, and we do not know what kind of work he does. He rarely communicates with us or gives us financial support. My mother´s name is Francisca Garcia Toj. She does the housework, and she raises hens and pigs for selling. Moreover, she grows radishes and coriander to sell. My grandmother cooks “tamales” (a typical dish) and sells them on Sunday in the plaza; she helps my mother to supply the home needs. My family is in good health. We attend a Pentecostal Prince of Peace Church. The house in which we live belongs to maternal grandmother. There are 2 adobe rooms, the roof is made of tin sheets and the house has a cement floor. The kitchen is separated. We have running water and electricity services. My mother and grandmother support each other in paying the bills. Our essential needs are groceries and clothes. I appreciate so much that you are taking the time to read my information. May God bless you!
Warm hugs,
Josue Fernando Suar Garcia
