Biography

ZA4525

Zacualpa is a small but busy village in a mountain valley.  The village is inhabited by both Quiché Indians and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry). The prevalent language is Spanish.  Families in this village live in one or two room homes generally constructed of either wood or adobe.  Although many of the people are farmers, the village contains several small specialized stores, a body repair shop for buses, mechanics, plumbers and many other small-town tradesmen.   It also has a large open-air market which serves much of the area.

Hello, my name is Elmer Abdiel Rosales Morente.  I was born on April 8, 2011.  I suffered from convulsions when I was younger.  As a result, I have problems with my vision and my hearing, I also have problems learning.  Previously, I was in treatment for this, but now I am not due to a lack of resources.  I walk about 15 minutes to get to the feeding program.  I have only one brother.  My father’s name is Elmer and he is a carpenter.  My mother’s name is Sebastiana and she is a housewife.  We live in a house that belongs to my paternal grandfather.  It is adobe with a tin roof and a cement floor.  It has one room and a separate kitchen.  We have water and electricity.  My family does not travel to the coast to work as many families do.  We do not have any domestic animals. I am in 2nd grade.  My favorite color is green and my favorite animal is the rabbit.  The foods that I like best are bananas, apples and fried chicken.  In my free time, I like to play with my toy cars, to play a lot of soccer and to watch television.  My favorite program is “Teen Titans”.  My family attends Emmanuel Church.

With much love and many blessings,

Elmer Abdiel Rosales Morente
