My Story

Hello! How are you? I am Domingo Calachij Gomez, and I greet you with much love. I am writing this to tell you how my family and I are doing this 2023. We are now members of the Catholic Church, and we attend the mass on Tuesday. LW Evangelism team has encouraged us to put all our faith in God, and we are grateful for their words. We have hens, goats, cows and pigs at home, and we grow black beans for selling. We are a humble family, and at the moment, our greatest needs are corn, black beans and groceries. My father’s name is Carlos, and he is 45 years old. He is in good health, and he works as a farmer and day laborer. My mother’s name is Manuela, and she is 40 years old. She is in good health, and she stays at home taking care of the family and looking after our domestic animals.

I am 11 years old, and I am healthy. I am repeating 3^rd grade, and I am learning more now that I am attending school in person. It has been difficult for my parents to cover my school expenses since they do not have a stable job. I would like to become a policeman when I am older. My favorite celebration is Christmas because we eat “tamales”, and I receive a gift at the feeding program. I get excited when it is my birthday, and I wear my newest clothes and shoes. I want to improve my Spanish since I speak Quiche dialect as my first language. I prefer soccer as a sport, and I love drinking “Incaparina” (hot drink made from corn and soy). It is a great blessing for me to receive lunches at the feeding program and have medical attention for free. I am very grateful to Living Water and you. I say goodbye to you for now hoping to hear from you soon.
