My Story

It is a great happiness for me to greet you through this letter. My name is Paula Elizabeth and I hope you enjoy this information. My family and I attend a Pentecostal Church called Prince of Peace. We usually have services on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I am glad and grateful because a teacher of LW shared the gospel with my mother. That was a great blessing for her. Besides the spiritual support, I have received so much help at the feeding program. My father, Juan Morente, is 50 years old. He makes a living as a farmer and day laborer. He also travels to the coast from December to March to get an extra income to support our family. My mother, Isabel De La Cruz, is 40 years old. She keeps busy doing the chores and watching over my siblings and me. 

By God's grace, we are all in good health. We raise a few hens and grow corn for our consumption. I turned sixteen years old in August. I love having a delicious cake to celebrate a new year of life. I stopped studying some years ago because my family did not have enough resources to support me. I use my free time to help my mother with the chores and watch over my youngest brother. I would love to make a living as the best weaver to help my family economically. Our greatest needs are clothes and groceries, especially corn. My favorite holiday is Christmas because I enjoy burning firecrackers. I love drinking banana shakes and my favorite sport is marathon. My native language is the K'iche dialect. I would love to speak Spanish to get better opportunities in life. I say goodbye to you now, but I want you to know that a teacher of LW talked with my mother to get all this information for you.
