My Story

I am so glad to greet you affectionately through this; God bless you! Praise the Lord my family and I continue attending Prince of Peace Church, and we go twice per week. We have already accepted Jesus in our hearts, but we appreciate so much the encouraging words that LW staff gave us to continue trusting in God. My mother is Martina Gomez, and she is 44 years old. Most of the time she stays busy with the housework, and she also raises hens, turkeys, cows and pigs to sell. My father is Julio De la Cruz Tino, and he is 46 years old. He works as a farmer and merchant to supply the home expenses. At home, we grow corn, black beans, bananas, lemons, and jocotes for the family's consumption. I want to ask for your prayers for my father's health because he is having pain in his lungs. He has already visited a doctor and is taking medicine for it. Besides that, the rest of my family and I are in good health.

This is Herson Jose De La Cruz Gomez, and I am a 10-year-old boy. I am a fourth-grade student; receiving classes at school is better because I understand the lessons. My siblings and I attend school; it is hard for my parents because of a lack of resources, especially now that prices have increased. Sometimes, they do not have enough money to cover all the home expenses. My native language is K'iche´ Mayan dialect. I can speak a little Spanish, but I would like to improve it so that I can communicate better with other people. When I grow up, I would like to travel to the United States. The sport I like the most is football. My favorite drink is Coca-Cola which is delicious. I like Christmas time because of the firecrackers; I light some of them with my siblings and we have a lot of fun. Moreover, we meet up with our relatives. I feel so happy when my birthday comes because my family gets together to share lunch or some snacks; it is special for me. I take this opportunity to give endless thanks for the love and support I receive from you through Living Water; I am so blessed to be part of the program. The greatest needs are groceries and corn. I hope you like my letter. Take care. May God bless you greatly!

Lots of love,

Herson Jose De La Cruz Gomez
