My Story

First, thank you so much for taking the time to read my update! This is Yenesis, and I hope you are doing well wherever you are. My family and I are members of the Full Gospel Church. We usually attend our services on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Fortunately, my whole family and I are healthy, although my mother was sick. She had bronchitis, but she visited the doctor and ended her treatment. Her name is Rubidia Gomez, and she is 39 years old. She dedicates her time to the household chores. My father works by carrying tiles and bricks in a small factory in our community to support our family. Unfortunately, he does not earn enough to cover all the expenses, including the school supplies of my younger siblings. Our basic needs are clothes and food parcels, especially corn. I am fourteen years old, and I keep busy helping my mother to clean our home.

One of my biggest dreams is to have my own business when I am older. Besides that, I also would like to learn how to speak the Quiche dialect since my parents just taught me the Spanish language. Christmastime is the best time for me because I can spend unique moments with my loved ones, eat delicious tamales, and drink hot fruit punch. I like drinking soft drinks called “Fruta Fresca”. I like sports, but my favorite is basketball. My birthday was in July, but I did not celebrate it because of a lack of money. This is all for now about my life, but before saying goodbye to you, I want you to know that my siblings and I have received delicious food at the feeding program. So, we are deeply grateful to you and many other people who bless many families like mine through LW. A teacher of the evangelism team spoke with my mother to get this information for you. May God bless you!

With so much love,

Yenesis Abigail Ruiz Gomez
