My Story

Hello, my name is Yasela Marcelina Garcia Ruiz, and I am 14 years old. I usually spend my days at home sewing typical belts with my mother and helping her with the chores and housework. I am no longer studying in school because I did not wish to continue. My mother’s name is Juana Riz Morente. She makes a living by sewing designed belts for the typical Guatemalan women’s suit. She also raises and sells animals, such as chickens and goats. My father’s name is Pedro Garcia Simaj. He is a construction worker, but unfortunately, he is not doing well right now. He suffers from back pain, so he takes medicine and gets massages. 

At home we also grown corn for the family to eat and use. At Christmas, there is a celebration, and my favorite part is when we receive our gift and candies. I love going to the feeding program each week. My favorite food is the fried chicken. We have been blessed by Living Water through the meals and the free medicines when we need it. My family and I attend a Catholic church together. We have gone for many years. I hope you will pray for the wellbeing of my family and for God’s provision to be over us.
