My Story

Hello! I thank you for taking your time to read my personal information; God bless you. My name is William Alexander Gomez Arevalo. I am a 13-year-old boy. Thank God, my family and I are in good health. I am a seventh-grade student. I am working with study guides at home, and I deliver my homework at school every two months. We have Wi-Fi at home, and I communicate with my teacher by WhatsApp. Unfortunately, this study method has affected my learning because I do not understand the lessons on the guides, and I miss sharing time with my classmates. I miss attending the feeding program. The things I miss the most are the delicious meals they served to us and the bible teaching. I hope the program can open soon; I walk 30 minutes to arrive there. My father works as a security guard, and he is the one who supplies our home needs. My mother keeps busy with the household work and watching over my siblings and me.

My family and I like to go out in the neighborhood on Sundays. We celebrated Christmas by eating “tamales y ponche de frutas” (a typical dish and hot fruit punch). We shared with my older sister, and it was a good time as a family. We are Catholics and attend church once in a while, and we walk 30 minutes to get there. We live in our own property; there are 2 rooms and a separate kitchen. Those are made of blocks, tin sheets and a cement floor. We have water and electricity services. The house condition is good. Like everybody, we were affected by the pandemic; for instance, my mother could not continue with the sales. She used to go and sell in the stadium, but now she no longer does. Thankfully, we have been receiving food parcels from Living Water, and it has helped us in a big way in middle of these difficult times; thank you everyone who supports the program. For now, our priority needs are food and resources to pay for the internet for my studies. In closing, I want to tell you that a member from LW visited us at our home, and my mother and I gave this updated information personally. I leave you for now. I wish you the best in everything you do!

Hugs with much love,

William Alexander Gomez Arevalo
