Hello, my name is Maria Cux Garcia. I was born on March 30th, 1939. I am 82 years old. I live in Potrero Viejo, Chixocol, about a 30-minute walk from the feeding program. I am a widow and have 5 adult sons. I do not work due to my advanced age. All of my children are in The United States and have their families. However, they have alcoholic problems, so they do not help me very often. My son Jose García is the only one who is aware of my needs. He is deaf and mute, but lives with me. He is a farmer and usually travels to the coast to cut sugarcane during the harvest season. Meanwhile, I stay at home alone but it is hard for me since I am losing my vision and my family rarely visits me. I do not know how much does my son earns, but he is the only one who covers my needs.
We live in a humble house made of tin sheet roof, adobe walls, with a dirt floor. There are two rooms and a separated kitchen with running water and electricity. I have chickens and a cat at home. About my health well, as I mentioned to you, I am losing my vision. Sadly I am not under treatment due to our low economy. I have many needs but the main one is groceries. I am member of The Catholic Church and thank God for His love and Mercy in our lives.
