Hello! I feel so happy to share with you a little about me. My name is Maria Valentina Hernandez Lopez and I am twelve years old. I am studying in the third grade at school again because I did not pass it last year. I am receiving face-to-face classes every day, and I deliver my homework when I attend school. Last year, it was very difficult for me to learn about my topics due to the study method. In my free time, I help with the chores at home. I love the food that I received from the feeding program; the program was closed for a time and I missed attending it and the food, but fortunately, the program is open again. I walk about twenty minutes to arrive. My father works as a farmer, but he does not help us to cover the home expenses because he spends his money on unnecessary things. My mother sells ¨tamales¨ (typical dish) and tortillas in the local market. She is the one who supplies our needs.
Occasionally, we share time as a family because my mother stays more time in the market. We prepare ¨tamales and ponche¨ (typical dish and fruit hot drink) for Christmas, and we meet with our friends. We attend Church of Christ, and it is located about twenty minutes from our house. It was difficult for us when our church was closed due to the coronavirus because the services were suspended. We have our own house, and it is made of adobe, tile roof and cement floor. There are three rooms and a kitchen. We have running water and electricity. Our needs are groceries. My family and I are in good health. It has been difficult because the grocery prices have increased. It was a great blessing for us to receive groceries from the feeding program because we could cover our needs. I want you to know that I personally gave this information about me. I hope you like my letter. May God bless you richly!
With much love,
Maria Valentina Hernandez Lopez
