My Story

It is a pleasure to greet you in the name of Jesus and I hope you are doing fine. I am so happy to be sharing with you about my family and me. I am Maria Magdalena Ruiz Garcia and my age is 13 years old. We are still attending the Prince of Peace Church. We are grateful to the Living Water evangelism team who shared the gospel and encouraged us to continue seeking God. My mother`s name is Paula Garcia Toj and she is 46 years old. She continues doing chores at home. In addition, raises hens and sheep for selling to get some income.  We grow corn, black beans, and green tomatoes for selling and also for our family’s consumption. My father`s name is Manuel Ruiz Morente and he is 50 years old. Also, he continues working as a day laborer. By the grace of God, all my family is in good health.

This year I am in 6th. grade. I have been learning very well and receiving face-to-face classes from Monday to Friday. Nowadays, my parents are making an effort to support me at school even though they do not have a stable job, and school supplies are so expensive that sometimes it is hard for them to cover my expenses. When I am older, I want to have my own tortillas business in order to help with my family’s income.  My native language is Maya Quiche, but I would like to learn English.  I think this is an interesting language. My favorite season of the year is winter because I like to play in the rain, and I enjoy swimming with my family in the nearby rivers. My favorite beverage is Coca-Cola. Usually, for my birthday, I get up very happy because God let me to celebrate a new year of life. Among sports, I like to play soccer. We are grateful to you and to LW because we have been blessed in different ways with meals, medical and dental attention, and spiritual support too. I also feel so happy when I receive the Christmas gift that you send me. We are a humble and big family, so our current needs are corn and groceries. Sending love. Every blessing to you!

With lots of Love,

Maria Magdalena Ruiz Garcia
