My Story

Hello! I greet you in the name of Jesus hoping you are doing great. Praise the Lord my family and I attend Pentecostal Prince of Peace Church; we go on Tuesdays. This time LW staff shared the gospel with us and encouraged us to continue seeking God and trust our salvation in Him; we appreciate so much the advice. My mother is Maria Magdalena Riz Ruiz, and she is 32 years old. Most of the time she does the housework, and she also raises hens and turkeys to sell when we have some need. My father is Ramiro Garcia Gutierrez, and he is 39 years old. He makes a living by working as a day laborer; he does not earn very much. At home, we harvest corn, oranges, mangos, and jocotes for our consumption. Fortunately, my family and I are fine.

I am Gerson Jacinto Garcia Riz, and I am 5 years old. I attend kindergarten II and I like to receive my classes at school, it helps me to learn. Nowadays, school supplies are very expensive, and my parents are struggling to supply what I need for school, but sometimes, they do not have enough resources. I speak the K'iche´ Mayan dialect as my native language and have some knowledge of Spanish. However, I would like to enhance my proficiency in Spanish to communicate better with others. My dream is to become a fireman when I grow up. I like to play football in my free time; it is the sport I like the most. I get so happy when my birthday comes, and my family buys a cake to celebrate with me; they love me so much. I like Christmas time because of the firecrackers; I light some of them and I have a lot of fun with my siblings. Let me tell you that here in Guatemala, we have a protein drink called “Incaparina” which is delicious and is my favorite drink. I am so thankful to Living Water for all the support I receive. It has been a blessing in my life in many ways. At home, the top priorities are groceries and corn. So long. May God bless you wherever you go!

Hugs with much love,

Gerson Jacinto Garcia Riz
