My Story

I fondly greet you through this letter hoping you are doing great with your loved ones. My name is Madeline Sofia Perez Esquipulas. I am fourteen years old. I have two siblings. My mother and father live with me. My mother works at a medicine factory and packs the medicine. My father works as a farmer. Both of my parents work to support the us economically. To spend time with family we eat dinner together and talk. For Christmas this year, we celebrated it together as a family at home. I live in a humble home in Duenas. My house is located about a 20-minute walk from the feeding program. The house we live in is being borrowed from my grandfather. He also lives with us. There are two rooms and a separate kitchen. The house is made of tin sheet and block, the roof is made of tin sheet, and the floor is made of concrete. We have both running water and electricity. Our home is in poor condition. The tin sheet that makes up the house and roof are old. When it rains, water leaks in. Thank God my whole family is healthy. The pandemic has affected us economically because we have received less money from our jobs. I am in eighth grade this year. I have a virtual class every 15 days that lasts 6 hours. Every 15 days I go to my school to pick up the study guides that I use to learn. The pandemic has strongly affected my learning because I do not understand the study guides most of the time. I have internet connection at home by using Wifi. I attend the Catholic Church which is located about a 10-minute walk from my house. I am a part of a youth group whose purpose is to come together to encourage and motivate others. We missed attending services when our church closed due to the pandemic. What I miss most from the feeding center is spending time with my friends and the food. Our greatest needs are groceries and clothes. Please, take care of yourself and I hope to hear from you soon. Many blessings! The evangelism team is speaking to families in Duenas by appointment. They spoke to me to receive this information.

Kind regards and blessings,

Madeline Sofia Perez Esquipulas
