Hello, my name is Juana Mendez. I was born on October 20th, 1962. I am 59 years old. I live in Lomincillo, Zacualpa about a 30-minute walk from the feeding program. I am a widow with a unique son, but sadly his wife does not want him to help me. I do not work due to my advanced age, but I try to gather firewood to sell in order to earn something to cover my needs. I usually earn Q10 (a little less than $1) a day. Since I do not have my own place to live and I cannot live with my son, I went to live with a friend and her name is Joaquina. She kindly gives me a room to stay and supports me when I do not have any money.
I live with Joaquina who owns a humble house made of tin sheet roof, wood walls and dirt floor. There are four rooms and a separated kitchen with running water and electricity. I only use one room and Joaquina pays all the services every month. She has some children working in The United States that send money for her needs. About my health, I have body pain and cough very often. I have many needs such as groceries, clothes, shoes and a place to live. I am a member of The Evangelical Church and thank God for every blessing giving to my life.
