My Story

I greet you in the name of Jesus, and I hope you are doing fine. I want to share some news about my family and me through this letter. I am Edwin Eduardo De La Cruz Mendez, and I am 12 years old. I want to let you know that we continue attending Liberty Church from LW twice a week. This year I am in 5th grade at school. I am receiving face-to-face classes, and I am learning a lot doing my homework. Thankfully, my parents are making an effort to support my brothers and me at school in spite of the school fees being so expensive and that they do not have a stable job. In the future, I want to become a mechanic. My native language is the Quiche Mayan dialect, so I would like to learn English; I think this is a very interesting language. My favorite celebration of the year is Christmas because we eat “tamales” (a typical dish) and light fireworks. I prefer to drink Coca-Cola. Among sports, I like soccer. What I like to do for my birthday is to spend the day with my family. Thank God, the rest of my family and I are in good health.

My mother`s name is Julia Mendez Grave. She is 38 years old. Nowadays, she continues doing chores at home. In addition, she raises hens to sell and get some income and sometimes for our consumption. My father`s name is Alberto De La Cruz Riz.  He is 49 years old. At the moment, he continues working in his small hardware store. I ask for your prayers for him because he suffers from diabetes. Fortunately, he visited the doctor, and he is under medical treatment. As a humble family, our current needs are corn and black beans. We are grateful to Living Water because we have been blessed with meals, medical and dental, and spiritual support. I want to say thank you for the Christmas gift that I receive every end of the year. Thank you for reading my letter. May God Bless you greatly!

Many hugs,

Edwin Eduardo De La Cruz Mendez
