My Story

Before anything else, thank you so much for taking the time to read my news. This is your sponsored child Carlos, and I hope this letter finds you blessed and joyful. As you know, I am a Catholic and attend church with my family three times weekly. My father, Ramiro Chingo, is 48 years old. He makes a living as a day laborer and cuts coffee beans from November to March at the coast. Besides that, he raises corn and beans for our family’s consumption. My mother also strives a lot at home. She is a housewife, makes weavings, and raises goats, pigs, sheep, hens, and cows. She sometimes sells them. Our necessities are many, but our current priorities are food supplies and clothes. Thankfully, my parents and siblings are in good health. This year, I was not enrolled at school, but I was in sixth grade last year. Today, I keep busy by working as a day laborer for some of my neighbors to help my family economically. Even though I do my best at work, I do not earn much. So, I would like to work in a hardware store in the future. Christmastime is the best because my whole family and I gather to celebrate and enjoy delicious tamales (a typical dish).

The Quiche dialect is my native language, although I would like to improve my Spanish knowledge, since I know a few words. My fourteenth birthday was in March. I love celebrating my birthday! I usually wake up excited and share my happiness with my family. Thankfully, I am healthy. My favorite sport is soccer, and I like drinking Incaparina (a typical hot beverage). This is all for now, but before saying goodbye, let me tell you that LW is a meaningful and worthy project for us because of the material and spiritual support. Besides that, a teacher of the evangelism team shared the gospel and encouraged my family to continue trusting in God. The teacher of the evangelism team took advantage of that moment to collect this information for you. See you later!

Special regards,

Carlos Marvin Chingo Morente
