Chixocol
Guatemala
Child
Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.
Hello! I am very happy to share my information this time. My name is Carlos Jeremias Grave Calgua. I was born on April 6th, 2021, in Joyabaj, Quiche, Guatemala. I am 4 years old and I am a healthy boy. Due to my young age, I am not attending school yet. I like to play with my toy cars and ball. My favorite color is green and my favorite animals are chicks. I love to eat fried chicken. I have only one brother. I attend the Chixocol feeding program and it takes me 15 minutes to get there.
My father´s name is Walter Tomas Grave Suar. He works as a construction helper from Monday to Friday. On weekends, he works at home. My mother´s name is Juana Calgua Coj. She does not work outside home; she takes care of the house and raises hens. Sometimes, she sells some of them. My family is in good health. We attend a Catholic Church. My father owns the house in which we live; there are two rooms made of adobe with a tin sheet roof and a cement floor. The kitchen is separated. We have electricity services and my father pays for it. We do not have running water. Fortunately, my grandma shares water with us, and we bring it home in containers. Our greatest needs are groceries, corn, clothes and footwear. I hope you find my information interesting. May God bless you!
Hugs and kisses,
Carlos Jeremias Grave Calgua
