My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value.  Life in Quiche is always a challenge

I am very excited and grateful with God because I can say hello and tell you about my life. My name is Victor Eduardo Jimon Toj. I am 5 years old, and I was born on May 1st, 2019. I am not attending school yet. One of the things that I like to do in my free time is riding a bicycle. I like black, and my favorite animals are chicks. I want to tell you that one of my favorite meals is roast beef. I am very happy when Incan eat it. I live with my biological parents. Lesther Armando Jimon Gonzalez is my father´s name. He works unloading products from trucks. Marta Esperanza Toj Hernandez is my mother´s name. She is housewife and takes care of us. We are members of Liberty Church. We live in our own house which is made of block walls, tin sheet roof and concrete floor. The house has two rooms, and we do not have a kitchen. We use a little space in the corridor to cook. We have running water, and we do not have our own electricity. We obtain electricity from one of my uncles. My father pays for these services. We have some domestic animals like hens and cats. We have many needs because our income is low. The greatest of our needs is groceries. We arrive at the feeding program in 15 minutes on foot. Thank you for reading my information.

May God Bless you,

Victor Eduardo Jimon Toj
