My Story

I am glad to greet you through this letter. This is Gladys Elizabeth and before sharing my last news with you, I send you many kisses and hugs. My family and I still attend the Methodist Church Stone of Salvation. We usually attend our services every Monday and Friday. Thankfully, we are all healthy. My father, Roberto Rodriguez, is 30 years old. He works by tending a grocery store. Because of his job, he lives far away from our home, but he visits us every three months.  My mother, Juana De La Cruz, is 31 years old. She is a housewife and sometimes helps my father with the expenses by selling domestic animals. She raises hens and pigs. We need groceries at home, especially corn. Taking advantage of this moment, I want you to know that I am glad to be part of the feeding program. It is a great blessing for my family too. As for me, let me tell you that I am in third grade. I prefer to receive face-to-face classes because I understand the lessons easily. My parents do their best for my sister and me, but it has been hard for them to cover our school supplies. Besides that, my father’s job is unstable. I would love to become a successful nurse and speak Spanish better than nowadays. My native language is the K’iche dialect. Christmas is the best celebration for me. I love eating tamales and drinking hot fruit punch. My favorite drink is Tiky and I like cycling. I turned eleven years old in October. What I love the most is eating a delicious cake to celebrate a new year of life with my family. This is all for now, but before ending this letter, I want you to know that a member of the LW staff spoke with my mother to collect all this information for you. See you later!
