My Story

I fondly greet you through this letter hoping you are doing great with your loved ones. My name is Wilson Daniel Quino. I am eleven years old. I have five siblings, a mother, and a father that live with me. My mother is a hard-working housewife. My father sells sand from the river, but he is an alcoholic and does not make himself responsible for the family. My siblings help support the family. To spend time with family we drink coffee and eat bread in the afternoons together. For Christmas, we spent it together as a family making tamales for lunch. I live in a humble home in Chixocol. My house is located about a 40-minute walk from the feeding program. The house is property of my family. My father no longer wants us living there. There are four rooms and a galley that we use to cook. The house is made of adobe, the roof is made of tin sheet, and the floor is made of dirt. Thankfully, we have running water and electricity. The house is in good condition. As for my health and the health of my family, thank God we are all healthy. As for our financial situation, the pandemic affected us because the prices of many products went up. I am in fourth grade this year. Classes are face-to-face every weekday for 2.5 hours. Learning in the pandemic has been challenging for me. I have internet access at home. During my free time, I help my father extract sand from the river. I attend a Seventh-day Adventist Church which is located about 30 minutes from our house walking. We were sad when our church closed due to the pandemic since we could no longer attend. My mother used to be a deaconess, but she stepped down because she could no longer go regularly. What I miss most from the feeding center is spending time with my friends. Our greatest needs right now are groceries, shoes, and clothes. Please, take care of yourself and I hope to hear from you soon. Many blessings! The evangelism team is speaking to families in Quiche by phone call. They spoke to my mother to receive this information.

Kind regards and blessings,

Wilson Daniel Quino
