Zacualpa is a small but busy village in a mountain valley. The village is inhabited by both Quiche Mayans and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry). The prevalent language is Spanish. Families in this village live in one or two room homes generally constructed of either wood or adobe. Although many of the people are farmers, the village contains several small specialized stores, a body repair shop for buses, mechanics, plumbers and many other small-town tradesmen. It also has a large open-air market which serves much of the area. Even with all of this, the poverty level is very high and the children are very needy.
Hello! My full name is Danilo Samuel Benito Vicente and it is such a blessing to share a little bit about my life with you. I was born on December 29, 2020. I am in good health and I am in kindergarten. I love running as a pastime. My favorite color is green. I like bears, and my favorite food is fried chicken. I live with my parents and I have only one sister. The main support of my family is my father. His name is Honatan Danilo Benito and he works by driving heavy machinery. My mother also works hard doing the household chores and taking care of my sister and me. Her name is Aura Geraldine Vicente Calachij.
Thankfully, we are all in good health. We are members of Emanuel Christian Church, which is near where we live. We live in a rented house and my father pays Q750=$98.37 monthly. It is made of bricks and ceramic floors. It has two rooms, a separate kitchen, electricity, and running water. We pray to find another house that is a little bit more spacious. Therefore, I kindly ask you to join us in prayer. The feeding program is only about a five-minute walk from where I live. My mother usually accompanies my sister and me. It is time to say goodbye, but I appreciate that you took the time to read my information.
Special regards,
Danilo Samuel Benito Vicente
