My Story

Jocotenango, where your child lives, is in the state of Sacatepequez, Guatemala and is a suburb of Antigua. It is an urban environment and is inhabited by both Quiche Mayans and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry). Most of the children attend school, but financial hardship affects many families and forces most of the children to leave after the sixth grade. Only one out of ten children finish high school. Children in this area face temptations from gangs and drugs.

Good morning! My full name is Tirsa Hossanna Xol Paz and I was born on July 14, 2020 in Antigua Guatemala. I am a healthy girl and I am 6 years old. I am in kindergarten this year and I love drawing. My favorite color is pink. I love rabbits and I enjoy eating cupcakes. I am the only daughter. My father’s name is Denis Estuardo Xol Cabrera and my mother`s name is Leslie Gabriela Paz Zabaleta. My dad works as an upholsterer, and my mom dedicates her time to the family and household duties. We are believers and we attend the Families in Christ Church. We are a needy family and our current needs are groceries.

Thankfully, my whole family and I are doing well. We live in our church and my parents are the guardians. They take care of the building and they only pay half the cost of the electricity service. We have only one room. We do not have a separated kitchen, so my mother cooks in the same room. It is made of block, tin sheet roof and cemented floors. We have running water. My mother accompanies me to the Feeding Program and we walk for 5 minutes to come. I am glad to be registered in the Project.
