My Story

Pasojoc is an area located high on the side of a mountain in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this area is very difficult and very isolated from the outside world. It is more than a two hour walk to the nearest market town of Zacualpa. Pasojoc is a farming area where corn and black beans, the staple elements in their diet, are the major corps. The Quiche Mayans who inhabit this area trace their ancestral roots to the ancient Mayan civilization. They normally speak a Mayan dialect called Quiche - however, Spanish is becoming more common. Very little money ever changes hands in this area as they live on a barter system.

Hello! My name is Kimberly Sabrina Rosales Montufar and I was born on April 29, 2022 in Canilla, Quiche, Guatemala. I am 4 years old. I am in good health and I am in preschool this year. I enjoy playing with dolls and toy dishes, and I love to draw. My favorite color is pink and cats are my favorite animals. I like to eat boiled and scramble eggs. I am happy to belong to the Feeding Program. I get there by walking in two minutes and my mother accompanies me.

My father is Erwin Leonardo Rosales. He works as a farmer to provide for our family. My mother is Maudy Rosalina Montufar Soto. She is a teacher and she contributes to the home income. I have one brother and two sisters. My sisters are registered in the Feeding Program.  Currently, we are not attending any church. We do not have our own house, so we are renting a house. My mother pays the rent including running water and electricity services. The house consists of one room made of block and ceramic floors. We also cook in the same room. As a family, our current needs are groceries and corn. Thankfully, my whole family and I are doing well. Thank you for reading my personal information. Have a wonderful day!

Blessings to you,

Kimberly Sabrina Rosales Montufar
