My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small, attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.

Hello, I want to tell you that I am so happy to be able to greet you today and tell you a little bit about myself. This is Bayron Emmanuel Aguilar Tzoc. I was born on May 19, 2022, in Joyabaj, Quiché, Guatemala. I am a 4-year- old boy. I am living with my parents and three sisters. I am grateful to God because He has blessed us with good health. Ana Gricelda Tzoc Chingo is my mother. She does the chores at home, but she also sells homemade food to get an income. Moreover, she raises hens and pigs. Bayron Estuardo Aguilar Aguilar is my father. He makes a living as a cook in a restaurant and is responsible for our family. My parents struggle to take our family ahead. We all go to church together at Liberty Church from Living Water in Zacualpa.

Because of my young age, I am still not attending school. My hobby is playing football. I love cats and dogs. My favorite color is white. The meal I love the most is fried chicken. Thank God, we live in our property and there is only one room made of blocks with a cement roof and a ceramic floor. Even though we do not have water or electricity services, one of our relatives shares the services with us. The water is a yearly payment, and the electricity is a monthly payment; my father pays for them. For now, our greatest needs are groceries. I am very excited to be enrolled in the feeding program, and my mom is going to accompany me. We get there in five minutes by car. I have to say goodbye to you for now.
