My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala.  Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world.  Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen.  The extremely poor live-in houses made of corn stalks.  In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare.  Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors.  Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value.  Life in Quiché is always a challenge.

Hello! My full name is Camilo Cesar Agusto de la Cruz Morente and I was born in March 8, 2022. I am four years old and I am a healthy boy. I am in preschool this year. I love rabbits and eating tomato salad. My favorite color is blue and I like to play soccer and with toy cars. I have three brothers and three sisters, and four of them also are registered in the Feeding Program. We walk forty minutes to come. My father`s name is Camilo de la Cruz de la Cruz and my mother`s name is Roselia Morente Mendez de De La Cruz. She is a housewife and she also raises hens to sell and get some income. My father works as a typical day laborer. We are members of Prince of Peace Christian Church, and by the grace of God, my whole family is doing well.

We live in my parent`s house and we have two rooms with a separated kitchen. The rooms are made of adobe, tin sheet roof and dirt and rustic cemented floors. We have running water and electricity. My father pays the electricity monthly and the water service yearly. We have hens and my mother would like to have chicks because we have enough space for them in the house. We are a needy family and our priority needs are groceries and clothing. Well, thank you for taking the time to read my personal information. Have a nice day!
