My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value.  Life in Quiche is always a challenge.

Being part of the feeding program has been a wonderful experience and a big blessing for me. Please accept warm regards from Micaela Yojana Gomez Ajanel. I was born on August 1, 2022. I am 4 years old now. I do not attend school yet due to my young age. I stay at home playing dolls. My favorite color is green and I love cats. I like to eat fried chicken. I am in good health. About my family: my father is Carlos Gomez Gomez. He works both as a farmer and as a day laborer. I would like to ask for your prayers because both parents suffer from body pain and take medicine. My mother is Marta Luisa Ajanel Toj. My mother is a housewife and she improves our income by selling hens. I have two brothers and two sisters. Three of them attend the feeding program. My family is doing great and everyone is healthy. We attend a Methodist church called “Roca de Salvacion”.

God has blessed us with a home of our own. There are two rooms made of adobe, tin sheet roof and concrete floor with a separate kitchen. It has running water and electricity. Our main needs are groceries and clothes. It takes me about 10 minutes walking to get to the feeding program. I say goodbye to you for now. I pray God pours out many blessings upon you.
