My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value.  Life in Quiche is always a challenge.

Let me thank you for giving me the opportunity to be blessed through Living Water. I am glad to say hello! My name is Luisa Fernanda Sarai Jimon Tzunux. I was born on February 17, 2016. I am 10 years old now. I am a healthy third-grade student, I am repeating because I did not pass last year. I enjoy playing with dolls. My favorite animal is the cat and I love the color blue. The food that I like the most is spaghetti. I would like to tell you about my family. My father is Maynor Aroldo Jimon Gonzalez. He works as an electrical mechanic around our town. My mother is Maria Luisa Tzunux Chingo de Jimon. She stays at home doing the chores and she raises chickens. I am an only child now. My family attends a church.

Thank God, we have our own house. There are two rooms made of block, tin sheet roof and ceramic floor, and a separate kitchen. We have electricity and my father pays for this service. We get the water from an artesian well. Our main needs are shoes and clothes. I walk from home to the feeding program in about 5 minutes. I say goodbye to you for now. I pray God blesses you.

With a big smile,

Luisa Fernanda Sarai Jimon Tzunux
