My Story

Pasojoc III, where your child lives, is located in an extremely remote area of the mountains in Quiche, Guatemala.  Life in this area is very difficult and very isolated from the outside world. It is a 3-hour walk to the nearest market town.  The people who inhabit the area are Quiche Mayans who can trace their ancestral roots to the ancient Mayan civilization.  They normally speak a Mayan dialect called Quiche, however, Spanish is becoming more common.  The climate is basically warm, but it can get very cold at night.  Houses in this area are typically constructed of adobe with tin sheet or tile roofs and dirt floors.

Pasojoc III is an area rich with natural resources.  It is a farming area where the inhabitants grow staples such as corn, beans and other types of vegetables.  Many families also raise domestic animals such as sheep, goats, cows and chickens.

Hello! Blessings to you in Jesus’ love. My full name is Eliseo Marco Antonio Garcia Luis and I was born on July 22, 2019 in Zacualpa, Quiche. I am a 7-year-old-boy and I am in good health. I like to play with balls at home. I am not studying yet. I love color the color gray, and my favorite meal is fried chicken. I have four brothers and two sisters and two of my siblings also are registered in the Feeding Program. My older brother accompanies me to the Project and we walk for one hour to come. My father`s name is Roberto Garcia de Leon and my mother`s name is Isabel Luis Gomez. She is a stay-at-home-mom and takes care of the family while my father earns a living as a farmer and typical day laborer. Moreover, my whole family travels with him to the coast for two months to pick coffee beans to earn extra money to cover our needs. We attend the New Covenant Prince of Peace Christian Church.

We live in our own house. We have two rooms made of adobe walls, tin sheet roof and dirt floor. We get our own water. My uncle gives us electricity, but my father helps him to pay for it.  We have some hens and a pig at home. We are a needy family, so our current needs are corn and groceries. Thankfully, my family and I are doing well. I hope you enjoy reading my little story. I send you all my love!

Warm wishes,

Eliseo Marco Antonio Garcia Luis
