Chixocol
Guatemala
Child
Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiche is always a challenge.
Being part of the feeding program has been a wonderful experience and a big blessing for me. Please accept warm regards from Kelvin Aaron Rodriguez de la Cruz. I was born on April 23, 2022. I am 4 years old now. I do not attend school yet due to my young age. I stay at home playing toy cars and soccer. My favorite color is blue and I am a huge fan of kittens. I am really into eating ground meat. I am in good health. About my family: my father is Roberto Rodriguez Ixcotoy. He left to go to the United States in order to look for better job opportunities. He keeps in touch with us and faithfully sends a monthly support. He works in a supermarket. My mother is Juana Nohemi de la Cruz Aguilar. My mother is a homemaker and she improves our income by weaving and selling typical blouses. I have two brothers and two sisters, and three of them attend the feeding program. My family is doing great and everyone is healthy. We attend a Methodist church.
I live in my father’s house. There are three rooms made of adobe, tin sheet roof and concrete floor. We have electricity, my father pays for this service. We draw water from an artisanal well. My pets are a dog and a hen. Our main needs are groceries and clothes. It takes me about 5 minutes by motorcycle to arrive at the feeding program. I say goodbye to you for now. I pray God pours out many blessings upon you.
With much love,
Kelvin Aaron Rodriguez de la Cruz
