My Story

Pasojoc III, where your child lives, is located in an extremely remote area of the mountains in Quiche, Guatemala.  Life in this area is very difficult and very isolated from the outside world. It is a 3-hour walk to the nearest market town.  The people who inhabit the area are Quiche Mayans who can trace their ancestral roots to the ancient Mayan civilization.  They normally speak a Mayan dialect called Quiche, however, Spanish is becoming more common.  The climate is basically warm, but it can get very cold at night.  Houses in this area are typically constructed of adobe with tin sheet or tile roofs and dirt floors.  Pasojoc III is an area rich with natural resources.  It is a farming area where the inhabitants grow staples such as corn, beans and other types of vegetables.  Many families also raise domestic animals such as sheep, goats, cows and chickens.

Hello! This is a blessed day to send you my personal information. My full name is Leidy Martina Elizabeth Jimon Ajqui and I was born on September 13, 2020 in Zacualpa, Quiche. I am a 6-year-old-girl and I am in good health. I am in kindergarten. I like to play with teddy bears. My favorite color is pink. I love to eat beans. I have only one brother and he also is registered in the Feeding Program. We attend together and walk for thirty minutes to come. My father`s name is Efrain Jimon Gutierrez and he lives and works in the United States. He earns a living by working in a restaurant to provide for our economic needs, and he calls us daily. My mother weaves typical blouses to sell and get some income. Her name is Cristina Ajqui Gutierrez. Thankfully, my whole family is doing well, but we are needy people and our current needs are groceries and corn. We belong to the Christian Church.

We live in my paternal grandfather`s house, and my grandparents and paternal uncles live with us. We have 3 rooms and 1 separated kitchen. The walls are made of block with tile roof and granite floor. We have run water and electricity, and my parents share the electricity payment because they pay every three months. We have cows at home and my mother would like to have some chicks because we have space in the house for them. Thank you for reading my little story. I send you a bunch of hugs!

Have a blessed and nice day,

Leidy Martina Elizabeth Jimon Ajqui
