My Story

Duenas, where your child lives, is a small farming village located at the foot of one of Guatemala's active volcanoes, Fuego (Fire). The fertile ground around the village allows for the cultivation of roses and coffee, two of Guatemala's largest exports. Most of the families in this area live in one or two room wooden or adobe houses with tin roofs. Electricity is available to those who can afford it. Running water is available - however, most homes do not have indoor plumbing. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider education of value. Life in Duenas is quiet and sometimes difficult.

I greet you in the name of Jesus and I hope you are doing well! I am so excited to share my information through this. I am Angela Nohemi Pelen Aguilar. My birthdate is November 9, 2020, and I am now 5 years old. I have one brother and two sisters; they are registered in the feeding program too. We are so thankful to God because he has blessed us with good health. My father is Jose Arturo Pelen. He works as a construction assistant, and he provides for our needs. My mother is Ingrid Magali Aguilar Callejas. She works in a restaurant washing dishes. I am very happy to see that my parents support each other to take our family ahead. For now, we are not attending any church.

I am in pre-kindergarten, and I like to attend school. I love coloring when I am at home or enjoy playing with my siblings. I like dogs and our pet is a dog. My favorite color is red. The meal I love the most is pizza. We are very grateful to God because we live in our own property; we have only one room made of metal sheets with a cement floor. There is a kitchen too. Even though it is a humble house; we do not pay for rent. There is water and electricity, and my parents pay for them every month. For now, our greatest need is a bed, ours is very old. I want to tell you that I am very happy to be enrolled in the feeding program, and I walk 15 minutes to arrive. I enjoy the meals I receive each time. Well, that is all for now, but feel free to ask for more information about me. Every kind of blessing over you!

With all my love,

Angela Nohemi Pelen Aguilar
