Nueva Esperanza
Guatemala
Child
Nueva Esperanza, which means New Hope, is located in a slum area of Guatemala City, Guatemala. An extremely poor area, our program is squeezed in among the shanty dwellings built over an old city dump. Many houses in this area are without toilets or running water and are assembled with scrap wood, sheet metal, and cardboard. Zone 5, where Nueva Esperanza is located, is considered one of the most dangerous areas of Guatemala City. It is controlled by gangs and drug pushers. Robberies and murders are common in this area. Public education is available - however, many cannot afford it.
Hello! I am so glad to share my information through this and I trust in God you are doing well. My full name is Keity Mileidy Aracely Morales Alvarez. I was born on January 28, 2021, and I am a 5-year-old girl. I live happily with my parents and two sisters. Our house is located near a field and the view is very nice. I am so grateful to say that my family and I are in good health. Walter Alexander Morales Murcia is my father; he works in a warehouse and provides for our home needs. Blanca Estela Alvarez Toledo is my mother; she is a housewife and goes to sell “atol y tostadas” (Guatemalan homemade food) to contribute to the income. We have a rooster.
I am in Pre-kindergarten this year. I like to play with my dolls in my free time. Fried chicken is the meal I love the most. I love kittens. My favorite color is pink. We are attending the Catholic Church. We are living in a rented house and the monthly payment is Q1800.00, $240.00. This amount is paid and divided by the three families that live there. There are six rooms made of blocks with a tin sheet roof and a cement floor. My mom goes to cook in my grandma´s kitchen and uses her stove too. There is running water and electricity, and all the families contribute to pay for the bills every month. At the moment, our greatest needs are clothes, footwear and school supplies. I am very happy to be enrolled in the feeding program and I walk 30 minutes to arrive there. Thank you so much for your beautiful heart for the people in Guatemala like me. I pray to our Lord to bless you!
With all my love,
Keity Mileidy Aracely Morales Alvarez
