Chixocol
Guatemala
Child
Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiche is always a challenge.
Hello, my name is Kevin Sebastian Sicajau Ruiz; I was born on December 3, 2021, so I am 5 years old now. I did not attend school yet due to my young age. I enjoy playing soccer. My favorite color is blue and I love cats. The most delicious meal for me is rice with chicken. I am a healthy boy. Currently, I live only with my mother and siblings because my father has lived in the United States for about 5 years. He keeps in touch with us and sends a monthly support. He earns a living by washing dishes in a restaurant. My mother stays at home taking care of our family. By the grace of God, they are in good health. My mother also raises domestic animals as such hens, pigs and sheep and weaves typical blouses, typical belts and typical skirts. We attend the Catholic Church.
My family lives in my grandparents’ house. There are two rooms and a separate kitchen made of adobe, tin sheet roof, and dirt-cement floor with running water and electricity. My parents pays for our services each month. Our greatest need is groceries. The feeding program is about 30 minutes from my home by tuc-tuc. I feel so grateful to be part of the feeding program. Many blessings,
Kevin Sebastian Sicajau Ruiz
