Chixocol
Guatemala
Child
Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water has become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.
It is a great blessing for me to share my information this time! My name is Pedro Gonzalez Pichiya. My birthdate is January 3, 2022. I am a 4-year-old boy from Guatemala, and I live in a village called Chixocol. I live happily with my parents, one brother and four sisters. We thank God for blessing us with good health. Sebastian Gonzalez Guarcas is my father. He makes a living as a construction assistant, and he supplies the home needs. Maria Carmela Pichiya Simon is my mother. She stays busy with the household work and watches over my siblings and me.
Now, I will share a few things about myself. I am in Pre-kindergarten at school. My hobby is to play with my toy cars. My favorite color is blue, and the animal I like the most is the giraffe. At home my favorite meal is rice with beans. Let me tell you that we are members of the Liberty Church from LW. I am so happy because we recently moved to our own house; we were living in my grandparents’ house. Our house has two rooms and a kitchen. It is an adobe house with a tile roof, and a cement floor. There is running water and electricity services. My father pays for those services: the light every month and the water once a year. We raise hens and a pig. Our greatest needs are groceries and corn. Our house is located about 30 minutes away from the feeding program and I get there by walking. Well, this is all for now and I hope to hear news from you very soon. Many blessings over you!
With all my love,
Pedro Gonzalez Pichiya
