My Story

Hello, I am pleased to greet you today. I hope you are blessed and doing well. I am Santos Medrano Marroquin. I am 76 years old now. My birthday is June 21, 1949. I have lived in Guatemala for over 30 years, but I was born and raised in El Salvador. I married a lady there and we had six children together, but we later separated. Now, I have been married for 28 years to my wife, Isabel, and we live together in a small town called San Miguel Dueñas. I have five daughters and one son. They are all adults, and they have their own families and responsibilities. Unfortunately, I suffered a stroke in 2011 that affected the right side of my body, and I still have problems in my right arm. I can’t work or get a job anymore, but I have to provide for my wife and myself. She does not work because she is getting older, so she stays home as a housewife. I go out on the street every day and beg for money. I receive anywhere from Q25 to Q40 a day, which is about $3 to $6 a day.

We live in a very humble home. It is one room with a little area for the kitchen. It is made of cinderblock walls, a tin metal roof, and a concrete slab for the floor. We pay Q400, or about $52 for rent each month. We also have running water and lights, which costs us Q50 each month. Our biggest needs would be groceries and rent money. We trust God will provide for us like He always does. We go to church at Source of Life Church in the next town over from us. We love going and gathering with other believers and followers of Christ.
