My Story

Dueñas, where your child lives, is a small farming village located at the foot of one of Guatemala's active volcanoes, Fuego (Fire). The fertile ground around the village allows for the cultivation of roses and coffee, two of Guatemala's largest exports. Most of the families in this area live in one or two room wooden or adobe houses with tin roofs. Electricity is available to those who can afford it. Running water is available - however, most homes do not have indoor plumbing. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider education of value. Life in Duenas is quiet and sometimes difficult.

It is a pleasure to greet you today. I hope you are doing well and are enjoying many blessings from God. I hope you enjoy reading my information and learning a little bit about myself. My name is Kimberly Samantha Reyes López. I am 5 years old now. I was born on July 9th, 2020. I love coloring, and my favorite color is purple. I am so grateful that I am healthy, and my family is well. My mom’s name is Yesica Paola López De Paz. She does not go to work. She stays home to take care of me and my sister. My sister’s name is Fatima Fernanda. She is older than me, and we are starting to go to the feeding program together. We both love going and eating the delicious food. My dad’s name is Byron Isidro Reyes Ojot, and he is a worker who helps to heal plants and keep them healthy, so they don’t get diseases. He works hard because we are sustained by what he earns, since my mom does not work. We live with my grandpa in his house. It is a small house, but it is a good home. It is made of cinderblock and a tin roof. We have a floor made out of tile. We also have water and lights, thanks be to God. We have one pet cat, and I love playing with him. My favorite animal is a bunny rabbit though. I hope one day I can have a pet bunny. Our house is about fifteen minutes from the feeding program by foot. We walk to the program each week. Sometimes we are in need of groceries at home, but we know God always provides and He has provided for us through the ministry of Living Water Adopt-A-Child. We get to see the doctor and dentist at the ministry whenever we need to, and they always serve us the best food. My favorite food is hamburgers! Sometimes we get to eat burger patties in the program, and they are always very good. I want to tell you that I am not going to school yet, because I am still very young, but I am excited to start going to school one day. I hope you have enjoyed my biography. Thank you for reading my information and making me feel so special when I think that someone is thinking of me. I send you big hugs and lots of love. May God bless you and your loved ones today and always.

With much love,

Kimberly Samantha Reyes López
