Chixocol
Guatemala
Child
Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.
It is a beautiful day to say hello to you and introduce myself. I am Kenan Ander Oziel De La Cruz Gomez. My birth date is January 29, 2018, and I am a 7-year-old boy. I am a first-grade student this year. My hobby is drawing. I love the color red and I like dogs. The food I love the most is fried chicken. I live happily with my parents, three brothers and two sisters; they are fine. I want to tell you that my father had an accident at his job about 10 years ago and hurt his left foot, and was operated on. However, there are times when it hurts him, and my mother helps take care of it with natural medicines. My dad works both as a farmer and day laborer; he provides for our home needs. His name is Lorenzo De La Cruz Jimon. My mom stays busy with the household work and raises hens to sell to help herself economically. Her name is Maria Gomez Morente de Chingo.
My family and I are members of the Prince of Peace Church. We own the house in which we live; there are two rooms and a kitchen. It is a block house with a tin sheet roof and a cement floor. We have a water well for our use. My father pays the light service every month. The essential needs for us are groceries. It is a great blessing for me to be enrolled in the feeding program and receive tasty meals and medical care in the clinics. I get to the program by walking in fifteen minutes. Thank you for stopping to read my information. May God bless you!
Kisses and hugs,
Kenan Ander Oziel De La Cruz Gomez
