Dueñas
Guatemala
Child
Dueñas, where your child lives, is a small farming village located at the foot of one of Guatemala's active volcanoes, Fuego (Fire). The fertile ground around the village allows for the cultivation of roses and coffee, two of Guatemala's largest exports. Most of the families in this area live in one or two room wooden or adobe houses with tin roofs. Electricity is available to those who can afford it. Running water is available - however, most homes do not have indoor plumbing. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider education of value. Life in Duenas is quiet and sometimes difficult.
Hello! I am Kimberly Daniela Díaz Farfán. It is so great to greet you. I hope you are well along with your family. I know I don’t know you, but I know God has led you to me, and I pray He will touch your heart. I am 5 years old now, but I turn 6 in October this year, 2025. I am so excited to be six years old! My birthday is October 18. I love my mom and dad so much. They are the best parents. My mom’s name is María Marisol Farfán López, and my dad’s name is Marvin Estuardo Díaz Hernández. He is a construction worker. He works very hard because he provides for our family with what he makes. My mom does not work. She stays home and takes care of me and my sisters. She does the chores at home and makes our food and walks us to school and to the program. Well, I don’t go to school yet, but we walk with my sisters to school. I have two older sisters. My oldest sister is named María, and my second oldest sister is Evelyn. I like to spend a lot of time coloring and drawing. My favorite color is pink, because it is the best color ever! My favorite animal is a dolphin. I love drawing and coloring dolphins because I can make them whatever color I want to. I thank God that my family and I are all healthy. We don’t have a lot, but we have been so blessed. We live in a small house that belongs to my father, but my aunts and uncles and grandma live there too. The house is made of metal siding and a tin roof, and a concrete floor. We have three cats and three dogs. I love playing with them and making them run around. My dad also pays a company so we can have lights and water in our house. One thing my parents need is a wardrobe and a bed, but these are things we pray God will provide the finances to be able to get. We have been blessed to be able to buy food and groceries each week even though the money gets stretched tight sometimes. I want to tell you that I have a favorite food. It is noodles with mayonnaise. It is so delicious. It’s my favorite thing to eat, but they don’t serve it in the feeding program. But they have other delicious foods like spaghetti and beef patties. I love going to the program and eating with my sisters. We also go to church together at Parroquia Catholic Church. It is a church near where we live. I love learning about God and how much He loves us. I ask Him to bless you and to protect you in everything you do. I hope you have liked learning about me. I thank you for taking the time to read my information. I send you many big hugs and kisses.
With much love,
Kimberly Daniela Díaz Farfán
