My Story

Dueñas, where your child lives, is a small farming village located at the foot of one of Guatemala's active volcanoes, Fuego (Fire). The fertile ground around the village allows for the cultivation of roses and coffee, two of Guatemala's largest exports. Most of the families in this area live in one or two room wooden or adobe houses with tin roofs. Electricity is available to those who can afford it. Running water is available - however, most homes do not have indoor plumbing. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider education of value. Life in Duenas is quiet and sometimes difficult.

I send you many blessings and big hugs from Guatemala! I am Dayana Valeska Ordoñez Moya. I am so excited to greet you through this short biography and tell you a little bit about myself. I am a young girl who lives in Guatemala in a little town called San Miguel Dueñas. I was born on June 14, 2021. I just turned four years old this year. I am so excited to be able to be a part of the feeding program now. It has already been such a blessing to me. I love going and eating the delicious food they serve us. My favorite meal to eat is black beans with rice and chorizo. It is so good. I live very close to the program. It takes about two minutes to walk there. I go to the program with my siblings. We are all in the program now. I have two sisters and one brother, and I am the youngest. My brother’s name is Joel, and my sister’s names are Estefany and Karen. Estefany is so happy that I get to go to the program now because she says it is such a wonderful experience for her, and she wants me to be able to experience the same things. I don’t go to school yet, because I am still very young, but I will start soon. When I am at home, and I love to play with my dog. We also have five pet fish, but I can’t play with them, but we don’t have any cats, which is sad because that is my favorite animal. I also love going outside to walk around town, and I love to color. I think pink is the best color ever. It is so pretty! We thank God that we are all doing well and are healthy. My parents are working very hard to provide for our family financially. My dad works in a plant nursery taking care of the plants, and my mom works cleaning bathrooms in the market in Antigua. My dad’s name is Joel Antonio Ordoñez Rodriguez, and my mom’s name is Yuri Waleska Moya Chuy. We live in a humble little house that is owned by my dad, which is a huge blessing. We have two rooms in our house and a kitchen separated. Our house is made of cinderblock walls, a metal roof, and ceramic floors, and by the grace of God, we have running water and lights. Sometimes we lack groceries, and we have trouble stretching our money to cover all our expenses, but we always make it by, and God provides in His ways. As a family we go to church at Noah’s Arc Vision of Faith Church. I love going to church and playing with the other kids and learning about the stories of the Bible. It is always so much fun, and we learn about how much God loves us! I know it is God’s love that has done so much for us through Living Water Adopt-A-Child. I send you so much love and big hugs! I hope you enjoyed reading my information. God bless you today and always!

With much love,

Dayana Valeska Ordoñez Moya
