My Story

Zacualpa is a small but busy village in a mountain valley.  The village is inhabited by both Quiché Indians and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry). The prevalent language is Spanish.  Families in this village live in one or two room homes generally constructed of either wood or adobe.  Although many of the people are farmers, the village contains several small specialized stores, a body repair shop for buses, mechanics, plumbers and many other small-town tradesmen.   It also has a large open-air market which serves much of the area.  Even with all of this, the poverty level is very high and the children are very needy.

Hello! My name is Luis Estuardo Chunchun Villagran and I am 10 years old. I was born in Antigua Guatemala on December 27, 2014. Unfortunately, I am suffering from anemia and I have been diagnosed with helicobacter pylori. I visited the doctor and I am under medical treatment. I like to play soccer in my spare time. I love dogs. Green is the color that I prefer. I enjoy eating fried chicken. I only have one sister and she is enrolled at the Feeding Center. I walk with her and my cousins to the project in ten minutes. Sometimes my mother accompanies us.

Erwin Estuardo Chunchun De La Cruz is my father and he works delivering bottled water and Jennifer Elizabeth Villagran Sapon is my mother. She sells homemade snacks in the streets. Thankfully, my parents are doing fine. We live in my Aunt Rosa’s house. We share the house with my grandmother and other aunts. We have eight rooms and a separated kitchen. The rooms are made of block walls, tin sheet roof and cemented floors. We have running water and electricity. Every member of my family shares the payments for those services. We are a needy family and our current needs are groceries. As a family, we attend the Catholic Church. Well, this is my personal information. Thank you for your attention.

Blessings to you,

Luis Estuardo Chunchun Villagran
