My Story

I fondly greet you, hoping this letter finds you keeping well. Before telling you my latest news, I thank you so much for taking the time to read it. I am Debora Magdalena Gomez Garcia and I turn 10 years old in September. I am repeating second grade and I prefer cold rather than hot weather because I do not like sweating. At home, I usually sweep or wash the dishes. I have attended the feeding program for about two years. I receive Bible lessons before eating; what I like the most is praying. My father felt motivated to enroll me in this organization because he also had the opportunity to enjoy the blessings of LW-Adopt A Child when he was a child.

He told me with so much joy that he was one of the first children that attended the feeding program in Zacualpa town. He remembers that his family had to move the urban area because it was dangerous living in the villages, due to the internal armed conflict. At that time, people were scared and did not distrust everyone. Therefore, my father and his friends thought that something bad was going to happen them when they went to the feeding program for the first time by themselves. The people who used to serve food there told them that there was not anything to be worried about. They just wanted to bless them with good and delicious food.

My father remembers that his favorite meals were chow mein, beef steak, and beef broth. The time flew and after being just four children at the feeding program, many more children got involved. Therefore, there were long lines of children waiting for their meals and Christmas gifts. Today, my father is well and makes a living as a day laborer and farmer. He is the main supporter of our family. On the other hand, my mother keeps busy doing the chores and taking care of me. Fortunately, her health condition is stable thanks to the medicine that she takes to control diabetes.

About our spiritual life, I tell you that we are members of Ebenezer Christian Church. We are motivated to keep going there because we found a family. I am pleased to tell you that my father is assured about going to Heaven because he accepted Jesus in his heart a while ago. Sister Yesenmia (a member of the LW staff) recently congratulated him and shared with him that she is also sure about her salvation. To end this letter, I kindly ask you to pray for my parents, especially for my mother and her health. I cannot repay you, but the Lord will reward you one hundredfold.

Sincerely yours,

Debora Magdalena Gomez Garcia
