My Story

Hello, my name is Emiliano Lopez Ajin. I am a single man. I am 74 years old. I was born on January 5, 1951. I live alone in a community in Guatemala called Duenas. I walk about 15 minutes to get to the feeding program from my house. Unfortunately, I never had a family. About my health, I suffer from high blood pressure and I have my treatment in the health center. Also, I have a cataract in one of my eyes. I have not visited any doctor for lack of economic resources. I suffered from an accident 10 years ago. The municipal garbage truck ran over me and I had a surgery in my leg. Now, I use a cane to support myself and to be able to walk. Before the accident, I had many alcoholic problems and I lived in the streets, but since this accident, I no longer drink. I cannot work because of my health. By the Glory of God, the municipality committed to paying the room rent in which I live because they feel guilty about the accident I had. They pay Q 450.00 = 58.62 per month.

In the house, there are 6 rooms. All of them are rented and I use one of them. It is made of block walls and roof with concrete floor. I have running water and electricity. I survive with Q500.00 = $65.13 that I receive from the senior citizen program. I have to buy very cheap food such as: sausages or a piece of cheese to eat because I have to cover expenses with this money for the whole month because I do not have any other support. I have some needs and some of them are groceries, clothes and shoes. I ask for your prayers for God to continue keeping me in His precious hands.
