My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiché, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiché is always a challenge.

Hello! I am so excited to share my information in this opportunity. I am Evelyn Jacinta Panjoj Xon. My birth date is September 18th, 2020, and I was born in Zacualpa, Quiche, Guatemala. I am 4 years old and I am a healthy girl. I attend pre-kindergarten at school. I like to play with my dolls. My favorite color is pink and my favorite animal is the cat. I love to eat fried chicken. I have only one brother. I am very happy to be registered in the Chixocol feeding program; I arrive there in 30 minutes by tuk-tuk.

My father´s name is Cesar Panjoj. He works in a grocery store to provide for our needs. My mother´s name is Marta Julia Xon Gonzalez. She stays busy with the housework and raises hens. My family is in good health. We attend Assembly of God Church. The house in which we live belongs to my paternal grandfather; my grandparents are living there too. There are three adobe rooms, the roof is made of tin sheets and a cement floor. The kitchen is separate. We use two of the rooms. We have running water and electricity services; my grandparents pay for them. As a family, our essential needs are groceries and corn. I appreciate that you are taking the time to read my information. May God bless you!

Kisses and hugs,

Evelyn Jacinta Panjoj Xon
