Chixocol
Guatemala
Child
Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiche is always a challenge
I am so happy to greet you through this letter. A teacher of the LW evangelism team collected this information, and I hope you find it interesting. This is Cristina Garcia Jimon. I was born on February 23th, 2017. I am 7 years old, and I enjoy playing with my dolls at home and doing homework. I am in first grade at school. I love the color purple and rabbits. My favorite food is fried chicken. I live with my biological parents and my siblings. We are 6 children in total. We are members of a Methodist Church. My father´s name is Manuel Garcia Panjoj. He works as farmer and day laborer, but sadly, he works just four days a week. My mother is a housewife and takes care of us. We own the house in which we live. It has three rooms and a separate kitchen. It is made of adobe walls, tin sheet roof and concrete floor. We have running water and electricity. My father pays for these services. My family has some hens and dogs. We are a humble family with many needs, and some of them are groceries and clothes. The feeding program is 30 minutes away from my house, and we walk to get there. I want to say thank you for taking the time to read my letter.
Greetings and blessings,
Cristina Garcia Jimon
