Chixocol

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value. Life in Quiche is always a challenge
My name is Zaida Elisa Morente Chitic. I was born on October 2, 2019. I am 5 years old. I am not attending school yet. I spend my free time playing with plush toys. I love the color purple, and I like hens. My favorite meal is fried chicken. Thank God, my father and brothers are in good health. My mother suffers from gastritis, and she doesn´t have any treatment for lack of resources. My father´s name is Israel Morente de Leon. He is a mason. My mother´s name is Micaela Chitic Panjoj. She is a housewife. I have three brothers. We live in our own property; it has three rooms, but just we use two of them. We do not have a separate kitchen; we cook in one of the rooms. My grandparents live with us. The house is made of block walls, tin sheet roof and concrete floor. We do not have running water or electricity. My grandparents share the services with us, and we pay them. I travel in a bus for 30 minutes to arrive at the feeding program. It is a great blessing for my family and me to be registered in the program. We are members of Assembly of God Church. As a family, our greatest needs are groceries and corn. Thank you for taking the time to read my personal information.
Many hugs,
Zaida Elisa Morente Chitic
