My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value.  Life in Quiche is always a challenge.

I am happy to share my history with you. My name is Sebastian Fernando Tarse Perez. I am 11 years old, and I was born on March 7, 2013. At school, I am in 4th grade. My hobby is playing soccer with my friends. I love the color red and cows. My favorite food is fried chicken. I want to introduce my family. My father´s name is Tomas Tarse Quino and my mother´s name is Micaela Perez Gonzalez. My father works as a mason helper and my mother is a housewife. She cleans our house and takes care of us. My father is the only one who covers all our expenses. I have four brothers and two sisters. We attend a Christian Church. We live in my maternal grandparent´s house with them. The house has three rooms and a separate kitchen. The house is made of adobe walls, tin sheet roof and concrete floor. We have running water and electricity. My parents pay for these services. They pay for the running water every year and the electricity every month. We raise some pigs. I ask for your prayers for God to always be our provider and for my parents to have a lot of faith in Him. We are a family with low resources and one of our greatest needs is corn. We travel in a tuk tuk to arrive at the feeding program. It is 30 minutes away from our house. I am grateful from the bottom of my heart that you took the time to read my information.

Hugs and kisses
