My Story

Chixocol, where your child lives, is a very small village nestled in a mountain valley in the state of Quiche, Guatemala. Life in this state is very difficult and somewhat isolated from the outside world. Most families live in one-room adobe houses with dirt floors and a small attached kitchen. The extremely poor live in houses made of corn stalks. In the past few years electricity and water have become available to most people in the area - however, indoor plumbing is very rare. Most of the families are farmers or shepherds and live off the fruits of their labors. Public education is available for those who can afford it and consider it of value.  Life in Quiche is always a challenge

Hello! My name is Pedro Alexander Tzunux Toj, and I am delighted to introduce myself to you through this letter. I am 8 years old, and I was born on May 19th, 2016. I am in second grade at school, and I love playing soccer. I like the color blue and dogs. About meals, let me tell you I love beans with eggs. My family and I are grateful with God because we have good health. My father´s name is Tomas Tzunux. He traveled to The United States four years ago. He works caring for and feeding cows. My mother´s name is Maria Toj Jimon de Tzunux. She stays at home taking care of us. I have one sister; her name is Flor de Maria. We attend a Catholic Church. We live with my maternal grandparents in their house, and we share the expenses with them. The house has four bedrooms, but we just use three of them and a separate kitchen.  It is made of adobe walls with tin sheet roof and granite floor. We have some hens, turkeys and pigs. I want to tell you that we live in a very poor area, and we have many needs, but the greatest are groceries. I ask for your prayers for God to be our provider.  We are very blessed because we live near the feeding program. We walk for 5 minutes to get there. I have joy in my heart because you are taking the time to read my information.
