My Story

Zacualpa is a small but busy village in a mountain valley.  The village is inhabited by both Quiché Indians and Ladinos (those with mixed European ancestry). The prevalent language is Spanish. Families in this village live in one or two room homes generally constructed of either wood or adobe.  Although many of the people are farmers, the village contains several small, specialized stores, a body repair shop for buses, mechanics, plumbers and many other smalltown tradesmen. It also has a large open-air market which serves much of the area.  Even with all of this, the poverty level is very high, and the children are very needy.

It is great to have the opportunity to write you for the first time. I hope you are blessed in your beautiful country. My name is Leonardo Francisco Musia Vicente, and I want to tell you about my family. I live with my parents. My father´s name is Gerardo Musia de la Cruz. He is a mason and supports our family. My mother´s name is Josefina Vincente Chan de Musia. She takes care of us and the house. I have two brothers and four sisters. Two of my sisters are enrolled in the feeding program. My oldest sister is the one that takes us to the feeding program. We walk for 15 minutes to arrive at the program. Thank God, all of us are in good health.

I was born on July 27, 2018. I am 6 years old. I am still too young to attend school. My hobby is playing with toy cars. My favorite color is white. I like cats. I love eating chow mein. We attend the Prince of Peace Church. We have many needs, but the principal ones are corn and food. Thank God, my father owns a three-room house with a separate kitchen. It is made of tin sheet roof, adobe wall and cemented floor. We have electricity and running water that my father pays for. We do not have any domestic animals at home. Alright, before finishing, I just want to add that my mother gave all the information to the LW team. I send you many blessings and my best wishes.

Best regards,

Leonardo Francisco Musia Vicente
